Cars Motor vehicles not exceeding 3500 Kg, with no more than 8 passenger seats and not pulling a trailer over 750 Kg or over the unladen mass of the towing vehicle. The combination of car and trailer should not exceed 3500 Kg. B (standard licence)
Cars with trailers Vehicle and trailer combination, where the combination does not come under category B. B+E
Medium-sized vehicles Lorries between 3500kg and 7500kg with a trailer up to 750kg. C1
Medium-sized vehicles with trailers Lorries between 3500kg and 7500kg with a trailer over 750kg; total weight not more than 12000kg. C1+E
Large Vehicles Vehicles over 7500kg. C
Large vehicles with trailers Vehicles over 7500kg with a trailer > 750kg. C+E
Minibuses Vehicles with between 9 and 16 passenger seats with a trailer up to 750kg. D1
Minibuses with trailers Combinations where the towing vehicle is in subcategory D1 with a trailer over 750kg, provided the combination does not exceed 12000kg or the trailers weight does not exceed that of the unladen towing vehicle. D1+E
Buses Any vehicle with more than 8 passenger seats with a trailer up to 750kg. D
Buses with trailers Any bus with more than 8 passenger seats with a trailer over 750kg. D+E
